Here by Design: Like Mother, Like Daughter

There’s nothing quite like a mother’s bond with her daughter. And for Independent Silpada Designs Representatives Carrie and Karen, their daughters have helped inspire their Silpada success.

Carrie, Silver Manager from North Carolina

Carrie’s Silpada journey began in 2007 when daughter Emily, a successful Silpada Rep from Michigan (and one of our 2013 Legacy Award achievers!) came to town to throw a Silpada Party. “Several of my Guests fell in love with the jewelry and wanted Emily to fly down to do another Party,” said Carrie. “She knew I loved Silpada, so she suggested I become a Rep. My husband’s reply was, ‘What do you have to lose?’ It’s been more than six years, and I’ve had some of the most amazing moments of my life.”

When Carrie joined Silpada, she and her husband had just retired from longtime teaching jobs. They were on a fixed income, but with Carrie’s Silpada earnings, they were able to splurge on special things. “When I wanted to update my kitchen with granite, or start a college fund, or spoil my first grandchild, I dipped into my Silpada account.”

In addition, Silpada gave Carrie the gift of more time with her daughter. “Emily lives 750 miles away, but Silpada has given us the opportunity to room together at Silpada Conferences and go on incentive trips. We’ve shared so many incredible Silpada experiences together.”

Since 2007, Carrie has earned trips to San Diego, Dallas, New Orleans, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Puerto Rico and the Mayan Riviera. “It started with a question from my daughter and a dream of making an extra couple hundred dollars a month,” said Carrie. “But I soon found pure joy in sharing this fabulous business. I’ve made lasting friendships, and without a doubt, it has given me the excuse to look fashionable. I always leave my home ‘jingling.’”

Karen, Silver Manager from Manitoba

“In the beginning, it was all about the jewelry,” said Karen, a Silpada Rep since 2008. “I didn’t know what I wanted from Silpada, or what was available to me. But after five months, I started thinking, why am I keeping this to myself? I’m having the time of my life, earning money and free jewelry. I feel appreciated, supported and loved. Every woman should have this opportunity.”

It didn’t take long for Karen to excel with Silpada. She reached the Silver Manager rank just two years after joining, and today, she has an ever-growing Team of Silpada Reps across the country. “I can land in any airport in Canada and never be stranded because I have girlfriends everywhere,” she said. “I didn’t think I had it in me—to lead a Team and inspire others. I worked a different job for 30 years and never felt successful or appreciated. With Silpada, I’ve felt that every step of the way.”

Most importantly, Silpada has allowed Karen to become a strong role model for her three young-adult daughters, and the flexibility to be there when they need her most.

“Silpada challenges me to do things I never thought I could do,” she said. “I was asked to speak at National Conference, and I initially told my husband I wasn’t going to do it because I didn’t think I could present in front of that many people. Yet, I thought, what would I tell my daughters? What kind of example would I be setting?  So, I took the challenge, practiced hard, and spoke at Conference. It wasn’t easy, but some of the best things in life aren’t easy. When I came home, my daughters told me how proud they were of me. There’s nothing better than that.”
