Picture Perfect: 5 Tips for a Great Pic

Hey there Silpada sisters and selfie-taking divas! Today, not only are we taking you behind the scenes of Silpada’s 2014 Fall/Winter Catalog shoot (whoop whoop!), we’re also sharing our top tips for getting that perfect selfie to ensure you’re showing of your stylish side in your photos. After all, the best #SilpadaStyle just has to be shared on Instagram and tagged with #OOTD.stylesessionsLogo

1. Look up slightly at the camera.

The best angle of your smiling face is when you’re looking slightly upward and the camera is just above you. Looking up will open your eyes more and help to bring out the shape in your chin. We love Shantell’s look in the pic below!

2. Check your background.

Be sure that whatever’s behind you is interesting, but not distracting. Just thing out of place can draw attention away from the focal point of your image. We love this textured wall behind our model!

3. Natural light is always best.

The lighting in your photo should be enough to simply brighten up the focal point, but not wash it out. Natural light will give you the best results, but watch out for shadows!

4. Lift your arm.

Lifting your arm away from your body helps to create a slimming effect. Have fun with this by trying out different poses!

5. Be YOU!

No fake smiles, ladies! Have fun and be yourself. Your pics will look great when the real you shines through!
